The president and one of the founders of the New Jersey Professional Process Servers Association is the owner of DGR, Jerry Colasurdo.
NJPPSA has been making strides in addressing bills and proposals to assist in the furthering of the process service industry as well as ensuring correct service in order to eliminate any potential cases of sewer service. Recently NJPPSA has submitted our proposal for “Registered Process Servers” to the NJ Supreme Court, Civil Practice Committee and if approved process servers who complete the certification process may be listed on the New Jersey state website. This legislation will go a long way toward ensuring that process servers are knowledgeable on all laws and rules surrounding service as well as reducing incidents of improper service.
On November 19th there was a seminar hosted by NJPPSA titled “How to Serve Civil Process in New Jersey” which taught process servers how to:
Serve legal process in New Jersey according to applicable New Jersey court rules, statutes, and the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure.
Serve New Jersey civil process in other jurisdictions.
Serve civil process and subpoenas from other jurisdictions properly in New Jersey.
Avoid pitfalls and possible civil or criminal liabilities.
Learn how to be designated a New Jersey Certified Process Server by the New Jersey Professional Process Servers Association (NJPPSA).
NJPPSA has also had Larry Yellon, who is the president of both the New York State Professional Process Servers Association (NYSPPSA) and the National Association of Professional Process Servers (NAPPS), in to speak at one of the meetings. Larry discussed the changes within our industry as well as the new GPS requirements for New York process servers.
