International Service of Process In Dubai & The United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not a signatory to the Hague Service Convention and there is currently no formal method of service available, so all service of process must take place through the informal method of service via agent.

PROCESS SERVICE IN DUBAI/UNITED ARAB EMIRATES UNDER LETTERS ROGATORY

Typically if a nation is not a signatory to the Hague Service Convention, those who need to serve an individual or corporation in the nation must serve them through Letters Rogatory if they are seeking to collect a judgment or enforce any part of the case outcome. However, the UAE is not currently accepted Letters Rogatory, so formal service is not an option. 

Translation of Documents 

As there is no formal method of service available at this time, there are no translation requirements. 

Process Service Notes: Dubai/United Arab Emirates

Personal service in Dubai can be very difficult to complete, as the majority of residential and commercial locations have security guards. An alternative is to get a court order that allows for substituted service, on either an employee, member of the household or security guard, which is a common practice in Dubai. 

INFORMAL SERVICE OF PROCESS IN THE UAE & DUBAI

Service via agent is the only option for service, although it will likely not be recognized by the government of the UAE. Judgements made in the United States can not be enforced in Dubai or the United Arab Emirates.

SERVING DOCUMENTS IN THE UAE & DUBAI

Service of process in the UAE can be difficult to enforce, especially as they are not a signatory to the Hague Convention or currently accepting Letters Rogatory. In order to effectuate service in the UAE and Dubai it must be completed through the informal method of service via agent.
